Position Overview
As the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager, you will manage the strategic analysis, strategic planning, and management reporting activities of the company. Conducts financial analysis, modeling, forecasting and reporting efforts to ensure efficient financial operations. Reviews analysis results, develops insightful suggestions for investment, sourcing, cost reduction and leads strategic business decisions.
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Partner with CEO, CFO and Senior Management Team to develop and execute the Company’s long-term financial strategy. Educate senior and emerging leaders on the Company’s financial strategy and assist them in aligning their area’s initiatives to support the Company’s goals
- Understand key business drivers and provide management with relevant information for decision makings
- Leads team in managing business unit profitability through effective pricing governance, cost management, and customer portfolio optimization by leading critical pricing analysis and customer business reviews, sharing insights, and making recommendations for improvement to all divisions
- Partners with divisional management and senior leadership to identify cost reduction and savings opportunities
- Provides thought leadership to change improvement efforts
- Designs, directs, and reviews complex, large, or difficult analysis projects; evaluate findings, prepare reports and make recommendations to senior management about the financial implications of proposed investments and transactions
- Supports a range of accounting and financial activities including monthly financial reviews
- Review competitive financial data, internal financial data, market share, data and trends to make recommendations to all levels of management of potential actions to improve performance
Management Financial Reporting
- Responsible for maintaining the integrity of division management reporting. Partners with Division leaders and Accounting to investigate and understand the Company’s financial results and how they compare to Forecast, Budget, and Prior Year
- Responsible for the monthly reporting on the Company’s financial performance and progress on goals which is distributed to key company leaders and the Board of Directors. Continuously work to improve reporting to enable more timely and productive decision-making process
Planning and Forecasting
- Drives the Company’s annual operating and strategic plan process including working with senior management to develop targets, assumptions and strategic initiatives to be incorporated into the annual budget and planning process
- Ensures that key shared assumptions are developed and communicated to the appropriate units within the organization. Includes preparing financial models, preparing plan document, and assisting in the development of presentations
- Ensures that the process and tools for development of the plan, as well as regular reporting of business results, are in place
- Prepares and supervises the Company’s forecast or “downhill” projections. Ensures that strategic support staff are correctly applying new information gleaned from business review meetings to current trends in order and target year-end financial performance. Includes comparisons to current year plan and historical performance
Accounting, Controls and Systems
- Works directly with Accounting and Information Services to ensure business needs are met by systems, processes, and reporting. Assists FP&A staff in assigning priorities to ensure business needs are met
- Assists the Accounting and Internal Audit Department in the communication and enforcement of companywide internal policies and procedures
- Other projects as requested by CEO and CFO
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
May be requested to perform different or additional duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance. MBA, CPA or CMA are preferred but may be substituted with experience
- 4+ years public Accounting experience or industry related experience in finance and/or planning, analysis and reporting
- Experience supporting a sales team required
- Consumer Package Goods Industry Experience a plus
