Position Overview
As Sourcing Manager, you will deploy Category Management best practices in the management of assigned commodities and categories to achieve the best value for goods and service. Identify and collaborate with key stakeholders on requirements, continuous improvements, cost reductions, and delivery performance for sourced items in alignment with corporate initiatives, objectives and supply chain strategy. You will also be directly responsible for supporting assigned business units to include sales, marketing, and all internal customers.
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
- Recommend, develop, implement, manage production, inventory, quality, and food safety on all product lines co-pack for Community Coffee.
- Develop strategical supplier network based on business needs.
- Identify new Co-Packers and product capabilities for new and existing product lines.
- Establish, manage, and oversee all aspects of the relationship with co-packing partners. Act as a key communication conduit between teams and co-packers.
- Develop, own and manage annual co-packing budget by working with key Finance partners.
- Assess current co-packing strategy by routinely conducting risk assessment, on existing partner relationships and proposing improvements or changes including Business Continuity Planning.
- Ensure production requirements are executed successfully and deadlines are met.
- Troubleshoot and lead process improvements regarding production issues as they occur.
- Accountable to ensure compliance of company policies and procedures and brand protection.
- Partner with key stakeholders to understand goals and objectives and translate into Category Strategy.
- Create a Category Strategy that includes Market Research, Spend Analysis, Strategic Sourcing, Contract Management, Procure-to-Pay Processes, Continuous Improvement, Innovation and Cost Savings Initiatives.
- Utilize Strategic Sourcing to support Business and Category Initiatives.
- Lead periodic Business Reviews with strategic suppliers including supplier scorecards, root cause analysis, and new business development.
- Ensure service levels are met and take appropriate action to correct when not met with a high sense of urgency.
- Responsible to develop and negotiate contract terms including its executing and implementation. Interface with Legal Counsel as needed to obtain approval on legal terms.
- Monitor supplier cost drivers and take action to reduce costs or mitigate impact of higher costs as they relate to purchased goods and services.
- Create a supplier market analysis including list of all possible suppliers and their capabilities, strengths and weaknesses.
- Work directly with key stakeholders in Marketing to source new suppliers and deliver requested goods and services.
- Act as a subject matter expert in area of responsibility and help drive innovation by actively seeking new product ideas and enhancements from suppliers and coffee industry sources.
- Maintain high level of product and supply base knowledge, highly in sync with industry trends and market indices. Collects cost data and prepares supplier cost/industry analyses. Lead benchmarking review to drive improvements
- Assist sales and marketing with new item creation; identify, source, organize and coordinate new product samples for review and assist with product introduction programs
- Support Procurement Operations and process requisitions, prepare and submit purchase orders, expedite open orders, manage discrepancies as needed
- Ensure SOP’s are documented, system is fully utilized, and team is appropriately trained
- Ensure SAP information is accurate including Material Masters, Vendor Masters, Source Lists and Info Records.
- Maintain monthly tracking and reporting of assigned KPI’s
- Provide training and coaching to Sourcing Specialists and aid in their development as Procurement Professionals.
- May be requested to perform different or additional duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or business-related field required.
- 3 years of experience in Category Management preferred.
- Co-Packing/Co-Manufacturing Experience preferred.
- Experience in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Marketing or Logistics Management preferred.
- Valid Driver’s license or valid federal, state or local ID card
- Supply Chain certification (CPSM), Project Management and or Lean Six Sigma desired
