Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager
Reports to: VP, Information Technology

Job Summary: A hands-on leadership role in the IT Department focused on driving IT/Business alignment and building a top-tier software organization that will anchor DISA’s digital transformation of the employee screening industry.  Will provide leadership and direction in the design and implementation of software systems to support the business and operational needs of the organization.  This leader will help guide and oversee the software QA team’s activities to ensure that requirements are met and satisfied in a timely fashion, and identify and evangelize technology trends to assist in future-proofing solutions.

• Lead team(s) of world-class software QA engineers to ensure and maintain the highest standards for DISA’s proprietary software systems through diligently scripted and executed test cases
• Be a hands-on software QA engineering manager who will review functional and design specifications and work with the IT and business leadership to satisfy business goals 
• Demonstrate proficiency in agile practices to build and manage team(s) that deliver reliable and performant products and services
• Provide coaching and leadership in software QA best practices, standards, and methodologies to enable continuous improvement of our engineering capabilities
• Manage resources, staff, mentoring and growing a best of class QA engineering team.  Evaluates employee performance, sets expectations and goals for department and staff members
• Work with project management to provide and monitor meaningful metrics on the effectiveness and capabilities of the QA organization
• Work effectively with the product owner and business stakeholders to translate business processes into test cases and ensure acceptable test coverage
• Understand the “as-is” state of the QA organization and capabilities in order to develop, document and drive the “to-be” state of the organization
• Develop and maintain library of test cases and other test artifacts like test data, data validation, test harness scripts and automated tests
• Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements
• Provide QA reports, perform root cause analysis and perform quality audits on critical systems in order to drive improvements
• Arrange, lead and facilitate user acceptance testing with appropriate business stakeholders
• Define and track quality assurance metrics
• Review, recommend and maintain proficiency in automated testing tools
• Ensure the currency and validity of the testing environments as a representation of production 
• Appreciate and advocate for information security and testing artifacts to support
• Liaise with Product Owner and assist them in managing and grooming the product backlog 
• Liaise with the Product Owner and the Business Analysts to ensure completeness and clarity of user stories and acceptance criteria 
• Work directly with the IT infrastructure group to properly set-up and maintain system infrastructure such that operations are optimized
• Encourage teamwork within the overall agile team
• Assist business teams with understanding the existing system capabilities, and features being delivered in a project as and when possible
• Guide individual team members on areas of improvement

Required Education: 
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or a related discipline
• 8+ years of software QA engineering experience, shipping enterprise grade software
• 3+ years of experience in leading and managing software QA engineering teams
• Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance processes for both waterfall and agile methodologies
• Demonstrated track record leading geographically dispersed teams
• Proficiency in industry leading test tools such as HP Load Runner, QTP, Microsoft Test Manager
• Familiarity with industry leading test automation tools such as Selenium, SilkTest, FitNesse
• Demonstrated ability to frame progress using metrics, reporting and presentations
• Ability to interact with both business/operations and IT teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Education: 
• Master’s degree in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related discipline
• Experience with mobile applications
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
• DISAWorks system experience
