Automotive Project Manager - R&D Operations
Manages customer's projects and project team expectations. Oversees all aspects of projects from quoting to product launch. Manages project deliverables to both internal and external customers. Reports to upper management regarding status of projects. Familiar with a variety of project management concepts, practices, and procedures. Support design and development of thermal formed products through the use of Solidworks/CATIA.
Defines project scope and risk assessment based on design parameters and reports to internal and external customers.
Schedules, budgets, and determines objectives for small to large-sized projects (most often multiple projects at once).
Oversees the ongoing review of projects status. Develops, recommends and implements critical path solutions and advises internal and external customers.
Manages expectations and balances the needs of company and client to ensure satisfaction for relevant parties.
Assist with development and management of thermal formed products.
Understanding methodologies of thermal forming and plastics.
Works with R&D to familiarize with the development process including timelines, costing packages, design requirements.
Creation of CAD and drawings for internal and external customer use. Additionally works with R&D shop for creating of prototype molds.
Manage customer interactions including phone calls, team meetings, and email communications.
Creation and maintenance of bill of materials
Continuously tracks project through life-cycle and meets project success criteria.
Develops best practices and tools for project execution and management.
Works closely with sales team to meet customer requirements and expectations.
Light travel to local customers, suppliers and additional company facilities.
5+ years experience working with project management methodology including budget development, project planning, project development, control and assurance methodologies. Automotive OE experience is a plus. Knowledge of Lean/Kaizen experience is a plus. Thermal forming and plastic knowledge preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or equivalent combination of education
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with team members and clients
Good PC and business solutions software skills.
Strong Mircosoft Office, specifically MS Excel and MS Project
Strong CAD skills. Solidworks and/or CATIA
Thermal forming and plastic knowledge
Strong negotiation skills to manage project and development changes.
Ability to work in a team environment and with minimal supervision
Ability to deal with ambiguity and change
Sit for prolonged periods.
Perform repetitive motion.
