Lab Technician 3
JOB SUMMARY
This specialized Lab Technician III position will perform advanced routine and non-routine analytical testing of alcoholic beverages, closures, food contact materials and related samples while following department procedures and policies for safety and quality assurance. Responsibilities will include open ended projects such as development, implementation, and validation of new or improved methodologies and participation in cross-functional teams to support broader business goals. Must have 2 - 5 years of Mass Spectrometry experience, ideally in food, beverage, and/or alcohol industries.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Actively commit to and participate in our lab and corporate safety programs: including following all safety protocols and procedures. Learning to recognize and report hazards and take appropriate action to keep yourself and others safe. Participate in safety programs, activities, including delivering safety trainings on a variety of topics.
Effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues, within the team, the facility and across all functional areas the lab interacts with. Share information, participate in meetings etc.
Evaluate any results you generate using the various tools to ensure you and our customers can be and are confident in the Lab’s output. Includes using analytical controls, referencing standards/specifications, etc.
Specialized Responsibilities for Lab Tech III
Routine analytical work:
- Perform analysis related to food safety and quality in wine and spirits, including pesticides, heavy metals, allergens, aroma compounds, and other chemical attributes
Apply in-depth knowledge to support lab quality assurance principles and objectives
Maintain and troubleshoot lab instrumentation
Write and review technical method instructions
Method Development and Validation:
Develop or adapt new methods to support innovation or food safety testing requirements
Complete method validation packages complaint to ISO 17025 guidelines
Improve existing lab methods based on publications, technology and instrumentation
Implement best in-class lab methodologies that perform best in specific alcoholic beverage matrices
Sounds:
Communicate and manage projects in cross-functional teams
Effectively create and manage key project deliverables and timelines
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 21 or older at the time of hire
- Bachelor's degree in a Natural Science discipline (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Material Sciences, Physics, Astronomy, Earth Sciences) OR Food Science, plus 3 years of chemistry laboratory experience required.
- 2+ years of Mass Spectrometry experience
Experience working in a regulatory environment.
Required to maintain 3 shift availability rotating quarterly; expected to work graveyard and swing shifts when scheduled
Computer skill requirements include basic MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Required to possess color vision and depth perception with correction or accommodation
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to frequently lift and carry weights of up to 50 pounds at varying frequencies
Possess the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
Working environment is both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to related equipment and noise levels
Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in the laboratory and or production environment
Must be able to repeatedly climb 20 feet tank stairs/vertical tank ladders
