Electrical Engineer - Power Distribution
JOB SUMMARY
As an Electrical Engineer at The Wine Group, you will be working closely with the Automation and Controls team. You will be providing guidance for various facilities power distribution infrastructure and related needs. You will help plan construction, repair, modification, evaluate load balances of power from incoming utility to facilities distribution points. You will provide engineering support to operations and maintenance related to power distribution systems. You will be TWG’s energy expert. Ex: Alternative Energy Program Manager- Solar Array monitoring related to performance agreements, system expertise point of contact with vendors. Point of contact with PGE and MID for TWG’s energy supply strategies. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on power systems/distribution. Relevant experience with controls and automation device application and/or relevant project engineering is a plus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Work closely with Automation and Controls team to provide guidance for power distribution infrastructure and related needs to various TWG facilities.
Assist with planning, construction, repair, modification, and load balances of power from incoming utility to facilities distribution points.
National Electric Code (NEC Code), NFPA 70, is a regionally adoptable standard for the safe installation of electrical wiring and equipment in the United States. Critical that this person be or become familiar with Code in order to provide guidance on a variety of TWG projects and compliance.
Will be heavily involved in Project Management- from Project scoping, justification, capital request, purchasing, execution, contractor and vendor management, commissioning, documentation.
Assist Project managers in specifications and estimates costs related to power requirements of new equipment.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
ARC Flash Program Administrator responsibilities. Develop best practices and share with other team members.
Make complex electrical computations to determine type and arrangement of circuits and size, type, and number of pieces of equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, switches, and lightning arresters in accordance with NEC code.
Corporate resource for maintaining a records repository of substations, power distribution drawings within all TWG facilities. Maintain documentation of all engineering tasks performed for future reference purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (emphasis on power distribution) required.
Must be 21 or older at time of hire.
Interested/willing to obtain ISA certification / Credentials. ISA Certified Automation Professional (CAP®) Certification Program · Sets the standard for the automation professional.
Must possess strong initiative and an innate curiosity.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others.
Nice to have: Controls and automation device application experience and/or certification.
Nice to have: Process knowledge/experience. Primarily winery process equipment. Refrigeration, bottling, filtration skid automation process controls would be helpful.
Nice to Have or interested in learning: Logix – Industrial Refrigeration Controls experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at varying frequencies.
Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in an office environment.
Working environment is both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to related equipment and noise levels.
Able to travel to TWG facilities in CA often, NY on occasional basis.
