IT Business Solutions Analyst

The purpose of the role

The Business Systems team (within the IT function) is responsible for supporting the suite of business applications. This role focuses on the systems relating to Commercial, to Supply Chain and Finance as well as the underlying DBMS (database management systems) and BI (business intelligence) tools. This position can be located in Herentals (Belgium), Somercotes (UK) or Valls (Spain).  

Responsibilities

Application and System Support

• Provides correct responses to requests for support by means of for example: making system modifications, developing work-arounds or site-specific enhancements, manipulating data, reconfiguring systems, changing operating procedures, training users or operations staff, producing additional documentation, or escalating requests to systems development staff or software suppliers.

Database Administration

• Administers database configurations including installing and upgrading software servers and application tools, ensuring that all standard procedures are observed, applying fixes, and maintaining supplier and user documentation.

User Support

• For all requests that cannot be resolved, provides an effective interface between users and service providers supplying all necessary diagnostic information, according to established procedures. Uses judgement to set priority for resolution, monitor progress and apply escalation procedures for problems not progressing satisfactorily.

Business Analysis

• Works with colleagues and clients/users to investigate and model business functions, processes, information flows and data structures, using methodical and consistent techniques.

Data Analysis

• Applies data analysis and data modelling techniques, based upon a detailed understanding of the corporate information requirements, to establish, modify or maintain data structures and their associated components (entity descriptions, relationship descriptions, attribute definitions). Provides advice and guidance to database designers and others using the data structures and associated components.

Health & Safety

• Proactively and visibly supports the Health and Safety standards, rules and regulations of the organisation.

Requirements

• Undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline; or Equivalent combination of education, professional accreditation, and experience

• Some experience of providing technical support to the end-users of IT systems is a plus.

• Previous experience of business requirements analysis and technical support associated with core business systems (e.g. ERP, CRM). Microsoft Dynamix ERP experience is a must together with experience in MS Office 365 and Demand Planning experience is a plus.

• Previous experience of business intelligence tools and RDBMS queries (e.g. MS SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS))

• Sound, broad knowledge of ICT and an excellent understanding of how the technical specialism relates to other areas of ICT and how it impacts on other business functions.
